“I’ve been working for so long I’m confused with the day.”
“I don’t know what to do with this anymore.”
“What will I do next?”
Sound familiar? Of course! That’s not a question anymore. These were your tedious complaints a few weeks back or maybe your sentiments right NOW. Your back is aching from exhaustion, your eyes are feeling strained, you lost your record-breaking appetite and you don’t want to do anything but sleep.
These are all signs of stress and anxiety, obviously. You are stressed.
What causes stress and anxiety? No. We’re not going to talk about our problems and help to God they can go away with just mere mention of them. What we are going to do is we’re going to find a way to not actually solve them but to relieve them at the very least.
You can go to the nearest bar and get drunk. Or you might go shopping and spend an enormous amount of money on things you don’t actually need. These ways can help you but it doesn’t really help you as it may also cause additional stress in the end.
So, what can you do? Answer: Essential Oils. Huh? How can essential oils help me relax? This can be the first question that comes to mind.
First, let’s define essential oil. Essential oil is a very concentrated extract from plants. The “essence” of plants, literally. They are used even in Ancient times dating way back to Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. They have properties beneficial for our minds and bodies.
One of these properties is its calming and relaxing effect. These oils stimulate happiness through their pleasant scents. That’s the reason we have what we call Aromatherapy. It is defined as use of essential oils medically for the complete healing of the human body.
Now, the next question would be “Which oil to use?”
Here is a list of essential oils that you can use to reduce your stress and anxiety.
Lavender oil is one of the most popular essential oils. It has a tranquilizing effect because of its anti-anxiety component. According to scientific studies, “Lavender oil aromatherapy has been shown to be effective in the management of anxiety and depression and small and medium-sized controlled and uncontrolled clinical trials.”
Studies have shown that lack of energy induces depression. Luckily, peppermint oil triggers energy and appetite thus making you want to move more. What’s more, is that it also boosts memory and focus as well.
The Ylang-ylang oil is one of the bright mints and generally reduces anxiety because of its distinctive aroma. According to a 2013 study, Ylang-ylang has a good effect on the heart as it can reduce rapid heartbeat rate as well.
Frankincense oil not only has antibacterial and antiviral properties but also has soothing effects. It boosts mood and stimulates calm and relaxation through its powerful aroma. You can use this with your diffuser at home while sipping a cup of tea.
According to scientific research, a group of women was tested and it was found that upon inhaling clary sage, they relaxed more and had a lower blood pressure. Clary Sage is also considered as an anti-depressant as it helps reduce stress hormones in the human body.
Of course, essential oils don’t make the problems solved. They are just oils after all. But, they give us the feeling of tranquil thus helping us to clearly think and analyze things around us. They improve our way of life without additional costs.
